The “Rocca di Cefalù” is a 268 meters high spectacular cliff from which the city took its name. Part of the perimeter of the “Rocca” is characterized by the presence of crenelated walls dating back to the medieval period and finished in the XV century. From the top you can admire the ruins of a medieval castle dating back to XII-XIV century, and that’s the reason why the “Rocca” is also called in dialect “u castieddu” (the castle). Near the ruins, there are the remains of the “Tempio di Diana”, a megalithic monument, probably destined to the cult of pagan divinities.

“La Rocca” is linked to the myth of Dafni, a man who, after having sworn to be faithful to a nymph, was seduced when drunk and for this reason blinded. Then Dafni decided to kill himself by throwing himself off the “Rocca di Cefalù”. According to another version Zeus transformed him into a castle to save him.

Guided visits
The visit starts from Corso Ruggero passing then through Via Saraceni, proceeding until you reach the pedestrian path for the “Rocca”.
The path is mostly exposed to the sun, so it is recommended not to cross it during the hottest hours of summer days.
In about 40 minutes you will arrive at the ruins of the ancient castle, where you can enjoy a beautiful 360 view on the Sicilian Coast, a unique experience!

Opening hours
The site is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
From November to March, you can visit everyday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Prices of the entry ticket to the museum
The cost of the ticket is 5€ and can only be acquired on site.
